Brand Guidelines in Pyongyang, North Korea

A useful identity system needs to work at small scale, in one color and across digital and print. A project for Pyongyang, North Korea does not need artificial local claims. A clearer approach is to focus on the real communication problem and how the work will be used.

A practical approach

A useful identity system needs to work at small scale, in one color and across digital and print.

If the scope crosses disciplines, graphic design, web design, e-commerce design and video editing can be considered as connected parts of one communication system.

A clearer starting point

Collecting final copy, dimensions and image assets early reduces avoidable revision later.

From first direction to final files

Delivery formats depend on where the work will live: print, web, social, presentation or video.

Keeping the brand connected

Documenting recurring decisions reduces visual drift when more people work on the brand.

Digital use changes the rules

File size and image optimization are part of digital design quality.

Remote collaboration is normal

Screen sharing can resolve design direction quickly without long meetings.

A website often becomes the place where identity, content and conversion meet, so web design works best when it is considered alongside the wider brand system.
