Editorial Design in Kingston, Jamaica

Editorial design needs to support changing content densities without breaking the system. The same design principles apply in Kingston, Jamaica: reduce uncertainty in the brief, establish priorities and build only what the project actually needs.

How to frame the project

A catalog becomes useful when products are easy to scan and compare.

If the scope crosses disciplines, graphic design, web design, e-commerce design and video editing can be considered as connected parts of one communication system.

Keeping the brand connected

Documenting recurring decisions reduces visual drift when more people work on the brand.

What should be defined before design?

Collecting final copy, dimensions and image assets early reduces avoidable revision later.

What changes on screen

Different aspect ratios often need a recomposed layout rather than a cropped version.

Keeping the workflow practical

Delivery formats depend on where the work will live: print, web, social, presentation or video.

Working with a freelance designer

Direct access to the person doing the work can reduce interpretation layers in a freelance setup.

If the brand is changing at the same time, corporate identity design and digital outputs are easier to align when they share one direction.
