Rebranding in Matabeleland North, Zimbabwe

A useful identity system needs to work at small scale, in one color and across digital and print. When rebranding is needed in Matabeleland North, Zimbabwe, a useful first step is defining the job before choosing the visual style.

Design with a clear purpose

Identity is more than a logo file; it is the visual logic that keeps a brand recognizable.

If the scope crosses disciplines, graphic design, web design, e-commerce design and video editing can be considered as connected parts of one communication system.

Keeping the brand connected

Consistency is a shared character, not identical layouts.

Start with the problem, not the style

References are most helpful when they explain what feels right about an example instead of asking for a copy.

Mobile, web and multiple formats

The same brand can feel consistent across channels without using the same composition everywhere.

A calmer revision process

Consolidated feedback makes revision easier to understand and prevents conflicting changes.
