Visual Identity Design in Kilifi, Kenya

A useful identity system needs to work at small scale, in one color and across digital and print. A project for Kilifi, Kenya does not need artificial local claims. A clearer approach is to focus on the real communication problem and how the work will be used.

A practical approach

Brand consistency does not mean every layout looks identical; it means every layout feels related.

If the scope crosses disciplines, graphic design, web design, e-commerce design and video editing can be considered as connected parts of one communication system.

Start with the problem, not the style

Separating must-have requirements from optional ideas keeps the project focused.

Designing for real screens

File size and image optimization are part of digital design quality.

From first direction to final files

The first concept is a way to make direction visible. It is better to confirm the overall approach before polishing small details.

A system that survives the next project

Consistency is a shared character, not identical layouts.

Communication is part of the service

Direct access to the person doing the work can reduce interpretation layers in a freelance setup.

A website often becomes the place where identity, content and conversion meet, so web design works best when it is considered alongside the wider brand system.
